St. Patty's Eve

Just a couple random notes on the night before the craziness of the Irish holiday...

Today Arne's cousin was in town, visiting for just the day on her way to Dublin. We took her to the Globe for lunch and then Arne showed her around town while I gave my room a vigorous cleaning. They met me back at my place and I made some coffee. We pulled a couple beers out of the freezer, which Arne asked me to do earlier but I forgot... Oops.

Hilary sent me a link to a special offer from Rosetta Stone--a free 7 day trial in Gaelic. Apparently it only lasts til the 19th, so if you're interested, better sign up right away.

Tonight Torsten and I made a delicious casserole. I was honestly surprised how tasty it was considering the small amount of effort and consideration. We threw together:
-boiled potatoes
-broccoli
-tomato slices
-zucchini
-cooked turkey

Put all that in a casserole dish, then sprinkled it with a bag of shredded, mature sharp cheddar cheese. In a bowl I mixed together a can of cream of chicken soup, about half a cup of mayonnaise, a cup of cream, plus some salt and pepper. Threw that mixture onto the casserole and put the whole thing in the oven for about 30 minutes.

DELICIOUS!

Plans for St. Patty's:
10am brunch with my housemates. Going to fix sausage, bacon, eggs, pancakes... the works.
11am meeting the others in MC 50 for a few beers
12n going to see a parade in downtown Belfast!
The rest of the day will be spent pacing our drinking until the evening, when we will pick a pub and allow ourselves to indulge in the Irish tradition. ^_-

Luckily there are no classes in honor of the holiday.
Unluckily there are still classes the day after.
Scheisse.
